I have always enjoyed digging into non-fiction, research oriented books that offer an additional or alternative perspective on American History...Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation by Joseph Ellis and The Dominion of War: Empire and Liberty in North America, 1500-2000 by Fred Anderson and Andrew Cayton come to mind. <br /><br />I would strongly suggest your Mississippi In Africa as required reading for any sort of University level Southern History or Black History coursework.<br /><br />I am interested in your opinion on the suggestion that you have offered a part of history which has been "conveniently" left out?
